December 2007

WELCOME TO THE 1st EDITION OF THE DK IBOMEKA NEWSLETTER

A note from DK Ibomeka

It’s been a fast and exciting few months.

In early October I did my first show with a symphony orchestra at the Guelph River Run Centre's 10th Anniversary. This was an unbelievable experience performing with so many brilliant musicians and hearing the strings and horns sweep over my music so beautifully.

I also spent a few days in the studio recording 2 tracks for my upcoming CD. I worked with Peter Cardinali, who produced the songs, and a group of phenomenal musicians and in no time we had two new songs recorded. One original song and one standard.

I’ll be recording the rest of the album over the next two months for a late spring 2008 release.

It's been just about two weeks since I have returned from my most recent European Tour. It was a great time for all of us. I flew out with my band and met the legendary Pee Wee Ellis and Annie Whitehead who joined us as special guests on the tour. We played 15 shows in Germany and France and each show was a huge success. Being on the road and performing each night is what I love most about being a musician. I was also lucky to met one of my favourite new artists, Amy Winehouse in Munich.

I have one final show before I retreat to the studio to complete my album. The show is at Trane Studio in Toronto on Thursday December 13. Trane is a great, intimate room for live music.

Thank you for your continued support you and I hope to see you in December and in the new year! Happy Holidays!
